Domestic new energy electric double-decker buses are being shipped from Yantai Port to Europe.

Recently, a roll-on/roll-off transport ship carrying over 5,000 single-deck buses, domestically produced new energy electric double-decker buses, and other models of domestic vehicles set sail for the UK and other European countries. This marks the first time Yantai Port of Shandong Port has undertaken foreign trade shipments of new energy electric double-decker buses, further enriching the cargo structure of European roll-on/roll-off shipping routes and contributing Shandong Port's strength to opening new pathways for the export of "new three types" products.

It is understood that this batch of buses is a new addition to the zero-emission bus fleet of a public transportation operator in London, UK. The city has already deployed nearly 3,000 new energy buses, which are expected to reduce approximately 60,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to removing about 37,500 fuel-powered vehicles from London's roads each year. "Made in China" is becoming an important part of European cities' efforts to promote green transformation in public transportation.

During the ship's docking, departure, and loading operations, Yantai Port faced challenges such as high temperatures, the large dimensions of double-decker buses, and stringent battery safety requirements. Yantai Port closely collaborated with port units including Yantai Customs, Yantai Maritime Safety Administration, Yantai Exit-Entry Border Inspection Station, and Yantai Port Pilot Station to open a one-stop green channel for "port entry, short-distance transport, inspection, customs clearance for export, and ship docking and departure," achieving "immediate docking, immediate loading, and immediate departure" for the vessel. Yantai Port Automobile Terminal Company assembled a dedicated team of skilled dispatchers, tally clerks, and drivers to plan specialized storage areas and driving routes for new energy vehicles, further strengthening safety measures such as battery charge detection, discharge, and power cutoff. Its top-notch efficiency and loading quality have earned high recognition from the ship operators and enterprises, further enhancing the reputation of its "nationwide best service automobile terminal" brand.

Currently, China's foreign trade products are rapidly upgrading toward "new," "green," and "smart" directions, with high-end intelligence and green low-carbon becoming new labels for "Made in China." As the logistics base for commercial vehicles at Shandong Port and the logistics hub port for commercial vehicles in northern China, Yantai Port currently operates 11 foreign trade routes for commercial vehicles, seamlessly connecting over 30 countries and regions across the Americas, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, achieving full connectivity with major global commercial vehicle terminals. Leveraging its dedicated parking area for new energy vehicles, Yantai Port is accelerating its alignment with the green low-carbon development systems of countries and regions such as the UK and the EU, providing "green zero-carbon" support for the export of domestic vehicles to Europe. According to statistics, Yantai Port completed a 102.7% year-on-year increase in new energy vehicle shipments in the first half of the year, achieving "accelerated progress" in serving the new export pathways for "new three types" products.
