Jiangsu Launches Special Rectification Campaign for Safety Risks and Hazards in Major Hazardous Sources of Port Dangerous Goods
Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation held a meeting to plan a special rectification campaign for major safety risks and hazards of dangerous goods at ports across the province, to be carried out by the end of September.
The meeting emphasized the need to conduct safety risk assessments rigorously, practically, and meticulously, ensuring that major hazards are thoroughly identified and addressed, risk control measures are fully implemented, and hierarchical and categorized handling is in place. This is to effectively enhance the intrinsic safety level of major hazardous sources of dangerous goods at Jiangsu ports. Local port administrative departments must strengthen supervision, provide full guidance, and organize experts or institutions at the national or provincial level with relevant professional backgrounds in chemical safety, equipment inspection, and extensive work experience to conduct review assessments.
The meeting called for strengthening coordination and close cooperation, ensuring comprehensive service guidance, scheduling coordination, and follow-up supervision. Local port administrative departments must enhance personnel training and provide guidance on assessment work to ensure the effective implementation of the special rectification campaign. As the current rectification period coincides with the flood and summer seasons, with typhoons, high temperatures, and other extreme weather conditions intertwining with safety risks, relevant municipalities must proactively strengthen communication with meteorological departments, closely monitor weather warning information, and effectively carry out port safety precautions.
At the meeting, an expert from the Waterborne Transport Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport was invited to provide a detailed explanation of the "Guidelines for Special Safety Assessments of Storage Tanks, Yards, and Warehouses for Major Hazardous Sources of Dangerous Goods at Ports."
