Maritime rescue and salvage support for the first commercial aerospace sea launch mission in the East China Sea.
On July 22, the Dongfang Space Gravity One Remote Four carrier rocket was successfully launched in the East China Sea, marking the conclusion of the first commercial aerospace sea launch mission in the East China Sea. This launch took place in a navigational channel with dense shipping routes and variable weather conditions, making the task of ensuring safety challenging. The Shanghai Maritime Bureau designated it as a key project and led multiple units to establish an integrated support system.
In response to the complex navigational environment, maritime authorities provided "one-on-one" services, participated in route and anchoring design, and formulated a "one general, multiple specific" plan covering all phases of the launch. Before the launch, they conducted risk assessments and real-time monitoring, established mechanisms for real-time reporting of ship dynamics and meteorological conditions, ensuring full-process safety and control during the launch. On-site, they delineated control zones, issued bilingual navigation warnings, deployed forces such as the "Maritime Patrol 01" vessel for layered defense, and utilized smart platform electronic inspections to achieve zero interference in the waters.
The rescue and salvage system dispatched three professional rescue ships to undertake tasks such as on-site command, maritime vigilance and control, emergency support, and personnel transfer. The "Donghai Rescue 101" vessel and the high-speed rescue ship "Donghai Rescue 203" formed a support fleet, traveling nearly 700 nautical miles in total, conducting dynamic inspections of key waters within the designated vigilance area, safely transporting 112 on-site personnel, and transferring 4 tons of support materials. The "Beihai Rescue 116" vessel served as the command ship, navigating over 350 nautical miles, overcoming complex sea conditions during the typhoon season, and completing long-distance escort and on-site command and dispatch tasks.
This support effort represents an important practice of maritime and rescue systems serving commercial aerospace. Moving forward, maritime and rescue departments will review the experience gained, promote the establishment of a standardized support mechanism for sea launches in the Yangtze River Delta, and continue to safeguard the development of commercial aerospace.
