Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially issued the "Reference Guide for the Integration and Application of Industrial Internet and Petrochemical Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guide"), which provides reference for petrochemical enterprises to identify demand scenarios, clarify implementation paths, and carry out application popularization.
The petrochemical industry has many product types, long process flows, complex material properties, harsh working conditions, and many of them involve key regulated hazardous chemical processes, chemicals and major hazardous sources.
In recent years, my country's petrochemical industry has actively explored the innovative application of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, 5G, digital twins, and the Internet of Things, and has continuously extended and expanded from the periphery of production to the core links, and has achieved certain results.

The Guidelines mainly focus on key links such as midstream refining and chemical industry, pipeline storage and transportation, production and manufacturing, and product sales.
It is applicable to both petrochemical and chemical enterprises with a good digital and intelligent foundation and petrochemical and chemical enterprises with a weak digital foundation but with further transformation and upgrading needs.
According to the Guidelines, the Industrial Internet enables the petrochemical and chemical industry to form an "8+2" application model of platform design, intelligent production, personalized customization, networked collaboration, service extension, digital management, refined investment and financing, visual governance, and industrial Internet + safe production, industrial Internet + green and low-carbon, covering 36 application fields and initially forming 137 specific scenarios.
For example, in terms of intelligent production, it covers infrastructure, refining, modern coal chemical industry, traditional coal chemical industry, fertilizers, chlor-alkali, tires, fine chemicals and new materials.
In terms of "5G+Industrial Internet", the Guidelines divide the application in the petrochemical industry into three categories: collection, control, and transmission, focusing on four application modes: intelligent production, digital management, visual governance, and green and low-carbon.
The Guidelines propose that the implementation of the integrated application of the petrochemical industry and the industrial Internet can be promoted through seven steps: status assessment, strategic planning, organizational preparation, overall design, program design, implementation and construction, and results summary.
Petrochemical companies need more comprehensive diagnostic assessments, more systematic blueprint planning, clearer path selection, and stronger organizational guarantees when promoting the integrated application of the industrial Internet.
