Yantai Port launches a new "Penglai-Indonesia" bulk cargo liner route
Recently, the ship "Zhongyu 28," carrying 26,000 tons of construction machinery and smelting equipment, set sail from the Penglai Port area of Shandong Port's Yantai Port heading to Indonesia. This marks the addition of a new member to Yantai Port's international breakbulk shipping routes. With this, a total of 37 international routes for breakbulk cargo at Yantai Port have been established, continuously amplifying the magnetic attraction effect of "gathering cargo with routes and fostering routes with cargo" to empower "Made in China" to set sail and inject strong momentum into high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.During business expansion, Yantai Port has implemented the "four integrations and one platform" system to collaborate with local governments, port units, and near-port processing enterprises, fully leveraging the "front port, rear factory" model. It provides customers with comprehensive supply chain services such as "raw material procurement—near-port processing—heavy cargo transportation—port storage—assembly and debugging—on-site tallying—container supervision—booking and customs declaration—loading and shipping—direct maritime delivery." Raw steel plates are transported from local ports to Penglai Port and then shuttled to enterprises in Penglai Economic Development Zone for processing. Finished smelting equipment is returned to the port area via heavy cargo routes. Under customs supervision, Yantai Port achieves a closed-loop model where "semi-finished products enter the factory upon arrival at the port, and finished products are shipped directly upon production," effectively revitalizing local factory assets and creating a positive cycle of "ports driving industries, industries supporting ports."To address the complexity of cargo types, irregular components, precision equipment, high protection standards, and significant height differences inside the ship, Yantai Port scientifically coordinated production elements and developed a full-process specialized plan. For areas with significant height differences inside the ship, the port employed methods such as rear-area cargo selection and interlocking stacking to reduce operational risks. For irregular components and precision equipment, they adopted specialized lifting tools, customized handling equipment, and reinforcement measures to enhance loading efficiency. Additionally, services such as cargo receiving and tallying, size measurements, weight handovers, on-site monitoring of loading operations, and container supervision were provided to ensure accurate handover and compliance during loading. The port actively coordinated with customs, maritime authorities, and other joint-inspection units to implement a "one cargo, one strategy" tailored plan, achieving strict supervision alongside efficient customs clearance. With coordination across all steps, Yantai Port successfully completed the loading operations.As the base for breakbulk cargo at Shandong Port and the logistics hub for breakbulk cargo in northern China, Yantai Port is committed to reinforcing its strengths in the sea-facing strategy, deepening its supply chain integration, and empowering production industries.
