On May 26, the Sichuan Metal Society hosted a project evaluation meeting on the "Research and Application of Multi-level Control Mechanism of Titanium Dioxide Base Material Particle Size Based on Multimodal Collaboration" in Chengdu, Sichuan.

After strict review, the evaluation committee unanimously determined that the overall technology of this project completed by Ansteel Group Pansteel Research Institute Co., Ltd. has reached the international advanced level, among which the online hydrolysis seed control technology has reached the international leading level.

This innovative achievement not only marks a major breakthrough in the field of titanium dioxide manufacturing by Pansteel, but also sets a new benchmark for the transformation and upgrading of China's traditional manufacturing industry.

Faced with the current situation that the proportion of sulfuric acid titanium dioxide production in my country continues to exceed 80%, product homogeneity is serious, overcapacity and weak competitiveness, Pansteel actively responded to the national call and formed a joint research team jointly participated by Pansteel Research Institute, Pansteel Vanadium Titanium Co., Ltd., Chongqing University, Northeastern University and other scientific research institutions and enterprises. Led by Dr. Lu Ruifang, a special researcher at the Vanadium Titanium Chemical Technology Research Institute of Pansteel Research Institute, the joint research team systematically analyzed the multi-level control mechanisms such as hydrolysis seed quality, hydrolysis process parameters, and salt treatment formula, and carried out a series of forward-looking technical research.

After unremitting efforts, the research team successfully developed the world's first set of online quality determination instrument for hydrolysis seed crystals, established a soft measurement model of metatitanic acid particle size based on machine learning for the first time in the industry, took the lead in building a prediction model for titanium dioxide particle growth and crystal transformation under different operating parameters during the calcination process, and formed a full-process control preparation technology solution.

This series of innovative achievements not only broke the traditional mode of relying on "experience operation" for multiple key links in the particle size control of titanium dioxide base materials, but also ended the history of manual determination of hydrolysis seed crystals of sulfuric acid titanium dioxide.

At present, the results of this project have been successfully applied in 5 sulfuric acid titanium dioxide production lines of Panzhihua Iron and Steel.

The relevant application indicators have reached or exceeded the leading product performance indicators in the same application field at home and abroad.

Among them, the qualified rate of key indicators of Panzhihua Chongqing Titanium Industry has increased to more than 97%, and the key quality indicators of Panzhihua Oriental Titanium Industry have increased to more than 95%.

This innovative achievement of Panzhihua Iron and Steel has not only obtained 1 overseas authorized invention patent, 14 domestic invention patents and 1 software copyright, but also participated in the drafting of national standards.
