Sea and Land Dual Ports Facilitate "Made in Hebei" to Go Global

Early morning at the Jingtang Port area of Tangshan Port in Hebei, the dock operations are busy and orderly, with cargo ships continuously berthing and departing. Over 500 kilometers away at the Shijiazhuang International Land Port, a China-Europe freight train loaded with 110 containers of "Made in Hebei" home appliances and auto parts departs for Moscow, Russia.

Since the beginning of this year, Hebei's seaports and land ports have been working in tandem to continuously improve the "hub + corridor + network" multimodal transport system, addressing logistics shortcomings, unblocking transportation bottlenecks, and optimizing supporting services. The development of multimodal transport across sea, land, and air has gained "acceleration." In the first half of the year, Hebei's container multimodal transport volume reached 889,200 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 34.58%. Among these, rail-water intermodal transport showed strong momentum, with a volume of 64,500 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 47.3%.

In February this year, the first "water-to-water transfer" multimodal transport cargo at Hebei Port was dispatched from the Jingtang Port area. The "Yanzhan 92" cargo ship, carrying 125 tons of anhydrous glucose, sailed to the Nansha Port area of Guangzhou Port, where it was then transferred to an international liner bound for Vietnam. This batch of goods benefited from a "single document" system, enjoying the convenience of "one-time entrustment, one document throughout, and one-time inspection," significantly streamlining the cross-border customs clearance process.

Meanwhile, Huanghua Port achieved a significant leap in multimodal transport volume. In the first half of the year, Huanghua Port handled 31,700 TEUs of foreign trade containers, a year-on-year increase of 84%. Among the container export sources, the proportion of goods from within the province exceeded 60% for the first time, reaching 62.08%.

Huanghua Port continues to deepen its reach into the inland hinterland and strengthen its intermodal network. Relying on major railway lines such as the Hanhuang and Shuohuang railways, it is accelerating the layout of inland ports. Currently, 32 inland ports have been established, extending port functions and services further inland. This year, multiple sea-rail intermodal train routes have been operating regularly, making the land-sea linkage channels smoother. On March 30, the first sea-rail intermodal container train from Handan International Land Port to Huanghua Port was launched, achieving two-way "loaded trips" and effectively revitalizing railway capacity. Meanwhile, the "Xingtai South–Huanghua Port" train operates steadily, running 2 to 3 times per week, providing a stable and efficient logistics channel for enterprises in the southern Hebei hinterland to access the sea.

While coastal ports are improving quality and efficiency, various land ports within Hebei Province are making efforts on multiple fronts, becoming important logistics hubs that radiate to surrounding areas and connect to the sea. Shijiazhuang International Land Port, relying on China-Europe freight trains, has created a highly advantageous cross-border land transport corridor. Hebei Silver Arrow Sports Goods Co., Ltd. is a "frequent user" of the China-Europe freight trains. The company's manager, Yang Lei, said: "The cross-border consolidation warehouse established by Shijiazhuang International Land Port in Dingzhou is only 2 kilometers away from our factory. Shipping to Russia by sea takes 40 to 50 days, while the China-Europe freight train only takes a dozen days. It's worry-free and time-saving."
