Analysis on China Titanium Dioxide Production Data of December 2022
According to the statistics data from TDD, in December 2022, China's titanium dioxide production was 331,200 tons, a month-on-month increase of 3.30% and a decrease of 0.95% compared to the same period last year. The total production of titanium dioxide in 2022 was 3.9067 million tons, an increase of 2.44% compared to the same period last year, with an increase in production of approximately 93,200 tons.
Starting from August, titanium dioxide production of various enterprises was affected by the market and power restrictions, leading to a significant decline in production. From September to December, production decreased to varying degrees compared to last year.
This year, due to the release of new production capacity, the overall production of titanium dioxide has increased. Enterprises that have released new production capacity mainly include LB Group Co.,Ltd. (including Xinli Titanium Industry and Jinchuan Group ltd.), Guizhou Shengwei Co.,Ltd, and CITIC Titanium Industry.
In December, the production capacity of titanium dioxide increased due to individual enterprise resumed work, market expansion of new production capacity, and the recovery of enterprise production after previous recovery.
The top three regions in terms of production in December were Sichuan, Henan and Shandong, accounting for 21%, 15%, and 14% of the total production respectively.
In December, the production of chlorinated titanium dioxide was 41,100 tons, an increase of 11% and 4% compared to the previous month and the same period last year, respectively. The total production of chlorinated titanium dioxide for the whole year was 493,500 tons, a year-on-year increase of 32.41%.
In 2022, the top three regions in terms of titanium dioxide production were Sichuan, Shandong, and Henan, accounting for 21%, 15%, and 14% of the total production, respectively.
Due to the continuous weak downstream market demand and pressure on titanium dioxide enterprises, some production enterprises have carried out repairs in advance, but with the continued release of new production capacity in the market, titanium dioxide production in January is expected to remain stable.
