POLYETHYLENE WAX
Polyethylene wax is a low-molecular-weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer that is widely used in coatings. The term 'wax' refers to the fact that this polymer ultimately exists in a microcrystalline form on the surface of coatings, playing a role similar to paraffin but with a wider range of practical functions.
The main functions of polyethylene wax in solvent-based coatings include: matting, scratch resistance, wear resistance, polish resistance, sink-in resistance, anti-blocking, anti-settling, and thixotropy; as well as good lubricity and processability; and positioning of metallic pigments.
As a lubricant and dispersant, this material is chemically stable and has good electrical properties. It can improve the processing flow and demolding properties of polyolefins and enhance product gloss. It has excellent compatibility with materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl acetate, ethylene-propylene rubber, and butyl rubber, making it suitable for applications in color masterbatches, PVC profiles, cable insulation materials, inks, and hot-melt adhesives.
