Light calcium powder, scientific name light calcium carbonate (chemical formula CaCO ∝), is a precipitated calcium carbonate material prepared by chemical synthesis. The production process mainly includes calcining limestone to generate calcium oxide, digesting and carbonizing it, or preparing it through the double decomposition reaction of sodium carbonate and calcium chloride, with a settling volume of 2.4-2.8 mL/g, significantly higher than natural heavy calcium carbonate. This substance is in the form of a white powder, non-toxic and non irritating, with a relative density of 2.7-2.9, fine and uniform particle size, and high oil absorption value. It has stable chemical properties and can decompose into calcium salts and carbon dioxide when exposed to strong acids.
