Polypropylene
Polypropylene, abbreviated as PP and 'bǎizhé jiāo' (hundred-fold plastic), is a thermoplastic resin produced by polymerizing propylene. It has high impact resistance, strong mechanical properties, and is resistant to corrosion from various organic solvents and acids and alkalis. It is a non-toxic, odorless, tasteless milky white highly crystalline polymer with a density of 0.89~0.91 grams per cubic centimeter. It is flammable, with a melting point of 165°C, and a usage temperature range of -30~140°C. Polypropylene can withstand corrosion from acid, alkali, salt solutions, and multiple organic solvents below 80°C, but it can decompose under high temperature and oxidation. In addition, polypropylene has good heat resistance, chemical stability, and electrical insulation properties. It has a low density, is a lightweight material, easy to recycle, and is one of the lightest types of plastic among all plastics currently available.
