Application
Gel formation mechanism in aqueous systems
The crystalline units of lithium magnesium silicate gels are tiny flakes with a thickness measured in nanometers. The surface of the small flakes is covered with exchangeable cations, mainly Na+. When the gel particles are mixed with water, the water in contact with Na+ is adsorbed onto the surface of the flakes, holding the gel open along the flakes, which then swells rapidly until the flakes separate. Due to the negative charge at the level of the sheet, the end face is positively charged, and the end face of the separated sheet is attracted to the level of another sheet, thus rapidly forming a three-dimensional spatial colloidal structure, i.e., the card palace structure, so that the viscosity of the system increases, and it has a high degree of suspension, thickening, thixotropy, and good compatibility, chemical stability, and it is the ideal thickening and rheological agent for the water system.

Addition method
Pre-gel: when preparing 20% pre-gel, the initial viscosity is high, so you need to slowly add the protective gel ES into the water, after one hour will show better fluidity, (try to use drinking water or deionized water, if only hard water, you need to treat, ion exchange, polyphosphate, etc.)
Increase the temperature (35-60°C) add electrolytes, high speed shear can accelerate the formation of pre-gel.
Can be added as a masterbatch at any stage of the production process.
No pH adjustment is required. However, in the acidic region, the protective gel ES will become less stable.
If Protectant Gum ES is used in organic solvents, the amount of solvent should be controlled. As a rule, it should not exceed 50% methanol 30% ethanol 30% isopropanol 50% ethylene glycol.
Dosage
Generally 0.5-4% of total system weight. Actual dosage depends on system requirements.
