Evonik adds two new polyamide-based epoxy curing agents, Ancamide® 2853 and Ancamide® 2865, to the Americas market

Evonik has added two new polyamide-based epoxy curing agents for the Americas market, Ancamide® 2853 and Ancamide® 2865, to its comprehensive curing agent portfolio. Both types consider new standards for flexibility, strength, and environmental safety. Additions further Industrial Coatings establish a partnership of Evonik with innovation, high performance solutions in coatings. 

Ancamide® 2853 and Ancamide® 2865 deliver high flexibility with standard diluted epoxy resin. This eliminates the need for polyurethane modifiers. The curing agents also offer high tensile and tear strength along with fast curing speeds. This makes them ideal for applications requiring quick return to service. Additionally, they are nonylphenol-free and utilize bio-based raw materials with a bio-content of 20-40%. This composition makes them safer and more eco-friendly compared to typical flexible nonylphenol-containing epoxy curing agents that do not use bio-based raw materials.

Both of these new curing agents are ideal for civil engineering and flooring applications where coatings are subjected to frequent movement and stress. Their fast-curing speed minimizes downtime. This makes them suitable for scenarios where efficiency is critical. Specific applications include deck overlays, flexible membranes, crack bridging, joint sealants, and flexible grouts.
