Natural Rubber Daily: Range-Bound Consolidation, Direction Awaits Clarity

On October 27, the STR20 price index in the Qingdao natural rubber market stood at $2,525/ton, down $20/ton from the previous trading day.
Supply
Overseas: Weather in northeastern Thailand has improved, accelerating the pace of cup lump rubber releases. Dry rubber processors continue to compete aggressively for raw materials, while second-tier traders are reluctant to sell at low prices. In the south, rainfall disruptions have intensified, affecting tapping operations, and latex factories show limited willingness to purchase at premium prices.
Vietnam's production areas remain in the seasonal peak production cycle. The southern main producing regions are experiencing recurring rainfall, with Ca Mau seeing concentrated precipitation, while Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc experience intermittent light rain, constraining effective new rubber output. Tight raw material supply has pushed up local procurement costs.
Domestic: Yunnan production areas experienced intermittent thunderstorms during the week, with varying rainfall across different regions, but overall this did not affect raw material volume. Prices showed a pattern of initial decline followed by stabilization.
Hainan production areas saw localized rainfall disruptions, but the impact on overall raw material release was limited. Supported by orders and profit factors, local processing plants maintained a stance of purchasing raw materials at premium prices.
Demand
According to industry sources, some enterprises' production enthusiasm remains muted, primarily due to high raw material prices and significant cost pressure. The overall industry operating rate falls short of the same period last year. A few mid-to-large enterprises maintain acceptable operating conditions with relatively stable production, but there are signs of incomplete product specification coverage, with certain models in tight supply and some products experiencing tight availability.
Futures and Spot Price Overview
Market Outlook
On the supply side, production areas both domestically and internationally continue to face rainfall disruptions, affecting tapping volume. Additionally, as Yunnan gradually enters the seasonal production decline phase, raw material supply is marginally tightening, raw material prices are stabilizing and turning upward, and the cost support for natural rubber is strengthening. On the downstream side, active inventory replenishment willingness remains weak, exerting periodic pressure on rubber prices. Overall, natural rubber is expected to maintain range-bound consolidation in the near term, with the direction awaiting clearer signals from both supply and demand fundamentals.
