Titanium Market Report (January 7)
I. Titanium Market Overview
Titanium Ore
Today, the Panzhihua-Xichang titanium ore price index was 1795.00, unchanged from yesterday. Raw material supply in Panzhihua is tight. Some beneficiation plants plan to resume production next week, leading to a tight supply of small- and medium-sized titanium ore in the market. Upstream suppliers intend to raise prices, and Panzhihua ore prices are expected to rise in the short term.
Titanium Slag
In January, the bidding price for high-titanium slag from northern enterprises was 5400 yuan/ton, unchanged from December. High costs of raw materials and auxiliary materials, coupled with continued significant production pressure and weak demand, have kept titanium slag prices at a low level.
The market price for titanium tetrachloride is 4800-5500 yuan/ton. Due to reduced titanium tetrachloride supply and low inventory levels at some factories, prices have increased by 50-200 yuan/ton this month. Some transaction prices are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Titanium Sponge
Grade 1 titanium sponge for civilian use is quoted at around 45,000-47,000 yuan/ton, while Grade 0 titanium sponge is quoted at around 46,000-48,000 yuan/ton. Recently, the price of raw material magnesium ingots has continued to rise, increasing costs. Mainstream titanium sponge prices have remained stable, with a strong supply-demand game and the market largely adopting a wait-and-see approach.
Titanium Dioxide
Today's titanium dioxide price index is 13424.70, unchanged from yesterday. The titanium dioxide market is operating at high capacity, with a slight increase in output in December. Recently, the market has faced pressure to sell at new prices, but foreign trade orders have provided some support. Coupled with high raw material costs, titanium dioxide prices are temporarily stable, with most transactions negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
II. Titanium Price Summary
III. Industry Operating Rates
Titanium Ore
Water beneficiation plants in the Panzhihua-Xichang-Xinjiu region are still operating below capacity. Domestic titanium ore supply is insufficient due to mining permit issues in Yunnan and low temperatures in Chengde.
Previously shut-down plants have resumed production, and a few companies still have maintenance plans this month, resulting in high operating rates for titanium dioxide production.
Sponge Titanium
Sponge titanium companies are operating at high rates.
