China-Indonesia Shipbuilding Technology Institute Inaugurated

On July 15, Liu Fangwu, Vice President of Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College, led a delegation to visit Diponegoro University, a renowned higher education institution in Indonesia, to attend the unveiling ceremony of the China-Indonesia Ship Technology Institute and the Zheng He Cultural Exhibition. Heads of relevant departments, exchange teachers in Indonesia, and members of the visiting delegation participated in the event.

On the morning of the 15th, the Zheng He Cultural Exhibition was the first to open. The exhibition began with the theme "Rooted in Rivers and Seas, Connecting the World," systematically showcasing the development history of the founding organizations of the China-Indonesia Ship Technology Institute. The chapter "Traces of Navigation Across Millennia" vividly reviewed the evolution of human maritime technology, while "An Unbroken Bond Across Six Centuries" deeply narrated the historical interactions between Zheng He and Indonesia. Using detailed historical materials and precious images, the exhibition provided guests with a comprehensive interpretation of the core spirit of Zheng He: "Daring to Lead, Open and Inclusive."

On the afternoon of the 15th, the unveiling ceremony of the China-Indonesia Ship Technology Institute was held at Diponegoro University. Witnessed by the attending guests, Liu Fangwu and Professor Budiyono, Dean of the Vocational Education College of Diponegoro University, signed the "Cooperation Framework Agreement for Jointly Building the China-Indonesia Ship Technology Institute by Two Schools, One Enterprise, and One Association" and jointly unveiled the institute. This move marked the transition of the four-party collaboration—Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College, Indonesia's Diponegoro University, Zhongtian Technology Group Co., Ltd., and Nantong International Economic and Technical Cooperation Association—from top-level design to substantive advancement in the construction of the China-Indonesia Ship Technology Institute.

In his speech, Liu Fangwu pointed out that the establishment of the institute is a key action for the school to implement the "Vocational Education Going Global" strategy, serve the "Belt and Road" initiative, and align with Indonesia's "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision. Leveraging the advantages of Nantong's world-class shipbuilding and offshore engineering industrial cluster, the institute will adhere to the principles of "consultation, co-construction, co-management, and sharing," focusing on four areas of cooperation: building a talent cultivation platform to meet Indonesia's industrial needs and train localized, multidisciplinary technical and skilled personnel; establishing an industry-education integration mechanism to conduct "Chinese language + vocational skills" training, achieving "enrollment equals employment"; promoting faculty and technological innovation by jointly tackling cutting-edge areas such as green ships and intelligent construction; and fostering cultural exchanges to strengthen the foundation of China-Indonesia friendship. He stated that this collaboration will deeply integrate the industrial and talent chains of the two countries, injecting new momentum into the regional marine economy.

Dr. Wijayanto, Vice President of Diponegoro University, warmly welcomed Liu Fangwu and his delegation and recalled his previous experiences of exchange visits to China. He believed that the establishment of the institute is an important milestone in deepening the friendship between the two schools, providing a high-level platform for talent exchange and promoting collaborative development in talent cultivation within the shipbuilding and offshore engineering fields.

Budiyono stated that the cooperation will comprehensively advance projects such as faculty and student exchanges, joint training, technological research and development, and corporate internships, effectively transforming consensus into practical results shared by all parties. He emphasized that the institute will become a core hub for shipbuilding technology research and development, marine technology innovation, and high-level maritime talent cultivation, continuously empowering the regional marine economy.

Industry representatives such as Yin Weilu, General Manager of Indonesia Golden Textile Co., Ltd.; Chen Yueqing, Deputy General Manager of Indonesia Kyoto Group; Wang Weiming, General Manager of Nanjing Runyang Indonesia Office—Indonesia Pacific Crew and Shipping; and Roni Budisantoso, from Indonesia ShineWing Zhonghe Accounting Firm, were invited to attend. The guests unanimously agreed that the establishment of the institute bridges the education chain and the industrial chain, marking a new starting point for deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research. They look forward to the institute fully leveraging the advantages of school-enterprise collaboration, quickly becoming a high-quality base for cultivating ship engineering technical talents, and continuously supplying the region with multidisciplinary talents who "understand technology, are culturally adept, and can perform in practice."

This visit marks a crucial step in the internationalization of our school's education. Subsequently, relevant secondary colleges will take this opportunity to deeply participate in the formulation of international standards and resource development, continuously enhancing the school's international influence in the field of shipbuilding and marine engineering, and contributing Jiangsu Maritime College's strength to serve national strategies.
