China-Vietnam international direct road transport resumes normal operations in August.

Recently, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Department of Transportation delegation held the 2026 International Road Transport Work Talks with the Cao Bang Department of Construction delegation from Vietnam. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as license exchange, transport business operations, and customs facilitation, reaching multiple consensuses. They also agreed to officially resume the normalized "point-to-point" international direct transport between China and Vietnam.

According to the outcomes of the talks, both sides will officially resume international road transport management operations at the Longbang–Chaling and Shuikou–Tuolong border crossings this August. They will issue and use three types of international vehicle transport permits (A, B, and C) in accordance with regulations. Vehicles with permits can achieve cross-border "point-to-point" direct transport under the provisions of the "China-Vietnam Road Transport Agreement," without the need for cargo transshipment at the border.

In terms of specific arrangements, both sides support enterprises in resuming operations of three international direct passenger and freight transport routes by mid-September this year: Baise–Jingxi–Longbang Border Crossing–Chaling Border Crossing–Cao Bang, Chongzuo–Shuikou Border Crossing–Tuolong Border Crossing–Cao Bang, and Longzhou–Shuikou Border Crossing–Tuolong Border Crossing–Cao Bang. After the routes are restored, they will facilitate the aggregation of high-value-added goods such as durians, frozen seafood, and electrolytic aluminum ingots, promoting the extension of cross-border localized processing industrial chains.

During the talks, both sides also completed the exchange of cross-border transport vehicle permits and agreed to establish a regular consultation mechanism for international road transport management institutions at the Longbang–Chaling and Shuikou–Tuolong border crossings, planning to hold consultation talks alternately each year.
