Guangzhou COSCO Shipping Hosts Customer Exchange Event with Independent Navigation Products Showcased on Actual Vessels
As an important supporting agenda of the 22nd China Maritime Day main event, on the afternoon of July 10, COSCO Shipping (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (referred to as Guangzhou COSCO Shipping) organized upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain to visit COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. They conducted a "Smart Drive into the Deep Blue, Green Movement for the Future" customer exchange activity, boarded a 325,000-ton VLOC (Very Large Ore Carrier) methanol dual-fuel ship, and witnessed the practical application of intelligent navigation and communication solutions such as Haining electronic charts, ship-to-shore satellite communication solutions, Shenzhen Digital Science Freedom Degree Weather Navigation System, and Ocean Health Medical Terminals on the ship.
On the morning of the same day, the China Institute of Navigation and Guangzhou COSCO Shipping jointly hosted the "Linking the Starry Sea, Navigating the Future—2026 Ship Intelligent Navigation and Satellite Communication Innovation Technology Seminar" at the Shangri-La Hotel in Yangzhou, focusing on the professional field of ship communication and navigation to build a high-end exchange platform. The afternoon visit to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) extended the morning's "chain discussion" to "onboard reality," allowing guests to experience firsthand how intelligent navigation and communication technology transitions from the laboratory to the deep blue in the 325,000-ton real ship scenario.
It is understood that COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) is the largest shipbuilding base under COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry. The 325,000-ton methanol dual-fuel VLOC is the flagship model of its methanol dual-fuel product matrix for "container, oil, and bulk" ships. The ship visited during the boarding tour is precisely this model, with the dual labels of methanol dual-fuel and intelligent navigation, making it a sample where "green movement" and "smart drive" coexist.

In the ship-side display area, four mutually supportive intelligent navigation and communication products formed a complete "capability matrix." The HN-ECDIS 100 electronic chart information and display system is a fully domestically developed and independently controllable "maritime smart eye," completely eliminating reliance on foreign key software and providing robust support for precise situational awareness in complex waterways. The ship-to-shore satellite communication solution, relying on low-orbit satellite resources and the ship's 5G private network, establishes a broadband link between ocean-going vessels and shore-based centers. The Shenzhen Digital Science Freedom Degree Weather Navigation System dynamically optimizes routes based on a weather-sea condition-efficiency coupling model, ensuring that every drop of fuel burns to its maximum value while balancing safety and green benefits. The Ocean Health Medical Terminal, through all-weather health monitoring and remote medical access, safeguards the life safety of ocean-going crew members.

These four products precisely cover the four dimensions of "chart-link-navigation-people" and have all completed the transition from "laboratory" to "real ship." They have been widely deployed and applied on multiple ocean-going vessels under the COSCO Shipping Group. Real ship data shows that the systems operate stably and reliably, achieving significant practical results in enhancing navigation safety, reducing fuel consumption, and improving the working and living conditions of crew members. This vividly demonstrates the chain collaboration and integration advantages of Guangzhou COSCO Shipping and its partners in the navigation and communication field.
A relevant person in charge at Guangzhou COSCO Shipping stated that this event is a concrete measure to implement the construction of a maritime power and a transportation power. Through the compact arrangement of "morning discussion to link the chain, afternoon boarding to witness," it promotes the transition of intelligent navigation and satellite communication technology from forums to ships and from products to scenarios, accelerating the transformation of technological achievements and contributing to the high-quality development of the shipping industry.
