The plan for the first China-Europe Arctic voyage in 2026 has been unveiled.

Reporters recently learned from the China Shipowners' Association that the Arctic shipping window period in 2026 will be from late July to late September. Currently, multiple shipping companies are continuously increasing their capacity investments, and the initial China-Europe Arctic voyage plan has been released.

The initial Arctic route will be operated by companies such as New New Shipping Co., Ltd., Hai Jie Shipping (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., Ningbo Hongkun Shipping Co., Ltd., Dalian Xinfeng Shipping Co., Ltd., Tianjin Yueqian Shipping Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Dahua Shipping Co., Ltd. The main types of vessels in operation include container ships, dry bulk carriers, and multipurpose ships. Among them, the total capacity of container ships and multipurpose ships reaches 20,000 TEUs, while the dry bulk carriers have a combined deadweight tonnage of 1.4 million tons. The vessels deployed in this round will stagger their departures during the window period, connecting multiple key domestic ports directly to major hub ports along Europe, establishing an efficient and smooth China-Europe polar maritime transport corridor.

It is reported that the Arctic route has significant comprehensive advantages compared to traditional routes such as the Suez Canal and the Cape of Good Hope. Through this route, the journey from domestic ports to core ports in the Baltic Sea in Europe can be shortened by nearly one-third, greatly reducing transportation time. The entire route bypasses high-risk areas such as the Red Sea and the Strait of Malacca, ensuring stable delivery of foreign trade orders on schedule. Additionally, the Arctic route offers natural low-temperature cold chain conditions, suitable for the constant-temperature transportation of high-value-added goods such as photovoltaics, energy storage, and precision electromechanical products. This results in lower cargo damage rates and better guarantees for the quality of export goods, creating a safe, efficient, and low-carbon "ice express lane" for China's China-Europe foreign trade.
