Tianjin Holds Water Rescue Skills Competition

On July 8, 2026, the Tianjin Water Rescue Skills Competition was held at the Tianjin Dongjiang Bay Beach. The event was hosted by the Tianjin Maritime Search and Rescue Center and jointly organized by the Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration, CNOOC (China) Tianjin Branch, and Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd.

The event brought together 20 participating teams and 220 elite water rescue professionals to compete. The competition featured three major categories—land-based, water-based, and combined land-water operations—covering seven practical subjects that comprehensively addressed maritime rescue scenarios. Natural beaches and real maritime settings were used as competition venues, fully replicating the real impact of natural factors such as water flow speed, wind direction, and tides on maritime rescue operations. This thoroughly tested the adaptability and on-site response capabilities of rescue personnel under complex natural conditions. Additionally, the event featured five specialized zones for medical rescue, search and rescue equipment, meteorological support, oil spill emergency response, and VR interaction, showcasing the latest generation of rescue equipment and digital rescue achievements.

This competition and exchange event marked the first time professionals from the Yangtze River Navigation Bureau, Tianjin Fire Rescue System, and Emergency Rescue System were invited to participate across specialized fields. It also marked the first time representatives from the Northern Search and Rescue Regional Cooperation Mechanism's "Four Provinces and One City" were invited for observation and exchange, effectively promoting the sharing of experiences among cross-regional and cross-industry rescue forces.
