Cargo throughput at Yangtze River trunk ports reached 1.97 billion tons in the first half of the year.
On July 24, according to the Yangtze River Shipping Administration of the Ministry of Transport (referred to as the Yangtze River Administration), in the first half of this year, the cargo throughput of ports along the Yangtze River trunk line reached 1.97 billion tons, including 14.218 million TEUs of container throughput, an increase of 3.9% year-on-year. The resilience and vitality of the Yangtze River Golden Waterway in ensuring the smooth flow of goods and convenient travel for people have continued to strengthen, providing strong support for economic and social development along the river.
The navigational capacity of the waterway has steadily improved. In the first half of the year, major national projects such as the new Three Gorges shipping channel and the second phase of the Yangtze River Estuary South Passage Channel Improvement Project commenced construction. The navigational standard guarantee rate of the Yangtze River trunk line waterway remained at 100%, and the electronic waterway "one map" of the Yangtze River system connected a total distance of 12,165 kilometers.
New achievements have been made in safe, green, and intelligent development. The Yangtze River Administration has improved the normalized safety production scheduling mechanism, conducted two rounds of risk and hazard inspections, and achieved a 96% installation rate of intelligent monitoring systems at hazardous chemical terminals. In the first half of the year, 1,133 green ships were built or under construction, 246 energy refueling stations achieved QR code refueling, and the disposal rate of ship pollutants exceeded 98%. The "Credit Yangtze River" 3.0 version has aggregated 480,000 credit entities, the new "Yangtze e+" public service platform has surpassed 400,000 daily clicks, and the "Yangtze Hotline" has been launched. The digitalization level of industry governance and public services has significantly improved.
The order of the shipping market has been continuously regulated, and the transportation structure has been continuously optimized. In the first half of the year, the Yangtze River Administration collaborated with five provinces and cities in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River to promote the construction of the "Thousand-Mile Light Boat" multimodal transport system, opening a total of 20 shipping routes. It coordinated the scrapping and renewal of old operational ships, reviewed 4,682 ships, and inspected 51,600 inter-provincial transport "affiliated" ships.
Liu Liang, Director of the Yangtze River Administration, stated that the Yangtze River Administration system will focus on the goals of the "15th Five-Year Plan," firmly establish a baseline for safety and stability, accelerate the implementation of major engineering projects, create a pilot model of a strong Yangtze River for the nation, initially form a data center sharing platform for the electronic waterway "one map," basically complete the port and shipping collaborative intelligent service system, accelerate the creation of a green channel for Yangtze River shipping, systematically build an intelligent Yangtze River shipping ecological system, steadily improve the navigational capacity of the waterway, and ensure the safety, smoothness, and orderliness of Yangtze River shipping.
