Natural Rubber Daily Report: Prices Show Initial Weakness Amid High Quotations but Weak Transactions
On September 1, the STR20 price index in the Qingdao natural rubber market stood at USD 2,365/ton, down USD 15/ton from the previous trading day.
Overseas: During the period, overall rainfall in Thailand increased compared to the previous cycle, limiting raw material output. Processing plants and secondary traders actively purchased raw materials, pushing prices higher.
In Vietnam, the rainy season pattern continued, though nighttime shower frequency eased somewhat. Daytime tapping conditions improved, and tapping output maintained a normal level with no significant decline in raw material supply.
Domestic: Weather conditions in Yunnan remained favorable, with new rubber gradually coming to market in increasing volumes. Processing plants maintained high-price purchases of raw materials.
In Hainan, increased rainfall restricted tapping operations. New rubber supply tightened, and actual raw material available for purchase by local processing plants remained scarce. The price center for latex purchases showed limited fluctuation.
According to industry sources, some all-steel and semi-steel tire manufacturers have scheduled maintenance, which continued to drag down overall operating rates. Supply-side weakness persisted. Currently at the month-end transition, concentrated export shipments, combined with price hike announcements, slightly improved channel procurement, providing some support for enterprise destocking.
Futures and Spot Price Overview
The current market exhibits a "high quotations but low transactions" pattern. Although high prices are being quoted, actual deal follow-through remains insufficient, and market participants generally adopt a cautious procurement stance. Supply-side pressure continues to rise, with increasingly ample availability. Downstream demand persists at essential levels, but volume growth is limited, making it difficult to effectively support prices. Supply-demand dynamics are trending looser, and price weakness is becoming increasingly apparent.
