The project for Berths No. 4 and No. 5 in the Shawei Operation Area of the Tieshan East Port Area, Beihai Port Domain, Beibu Gulf Port, has received national-level approval for its shoreline use.
Recently, it was learned from the Ministry of Transport that the Beihai Port Area of Beibu Gulf Port, Tieshan East Port Area, Shawei Operation Area Berths 4 and 5 project has officially obtained the port shoreline approval, marking the project entering the substantive advancement stage, injecting new momentum into accelerating the construction of Beibu Gulf International Gateway Port and International Hub Seaport.
The Shawei Operation Area Berths 4 and 5 project plans to build two 200,000-ton bulk cargo berths, with a designed annual throughput of 19 million tons and an annual capacity of 19.9 million tons. The estimated total investment is 4.212 billion yuan, with a construction period of about 24 months. The project is invested and constructed by Beihai Shawei Terminal Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beibu Gulf Port Co., Ltd.
The main types of cargo to be loaded and unloaded by the project are coal, iron ore, and aluminum ore, serving the hinterland industrial area of Longgang New District. Longgang New District consists of Tieshan Port East Port Industrial Park and Yulin Longtan Industrial Park, with key enterprises such as Oriental Hope, Huayou Holdings, and Yinyi Group already established and in production. The construction of the Shawei Operation Area project will effectively fill the gap of 200,000-ton berths in Tieshan East Port Area, meeting the transportation needs of Longgang New District's industry and the hinterland.
Since the project was launched, the preliminary work has been promoted solidly and powerfully. The project has also received high attention and strong support from Yulin City, Beihai City, and the Development and Reform Commission, Transport Department, and Park Office of the Autonomous Region, laying a solid foundation for the approval of the project's shoreline.
Next, Beibu Gulf Port Co., Ltd. will accelerate the follow-up work, striving to start construction as soon as possible. Once completed, the project will significantly enhance the comprehensive service capacity of bulk cargo transportation in Beihai Port Area, providing strong support for the development of the port-related industry in Longgang New District, and assisting Guangxi in accelerating the construction of Beibu Gulf International Gateway Port and International Hub Seaport.
