China will accelerate the deep integration of cutting-edge technologies with the shipping industry.
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 30 (Reporter Ye Haoming) - The reporter learned from the Ministry of Transport on the 30th that in order to accelerate the deep integration of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence with the shipping industry and cultivate and strengthen new quality productivity in shipping, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the State Administration for Market Regulation recently jointly issued the "Intelligent Shipping 2030 Action Plan," which clarifies the overall requirements, key tasks, and safeguard measures for the development of intelligent shipping in China during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
According to a relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Transport, the action plan takes technological innovation and industrial innovation as the path and scenario application as the guide, and clarifies the development goals in two stages. By 2027, China will achieve deep integration of artificial intelligence with shipping elements, make breakthroughs in core key technologies, establish more than three comprehensive pilot areas for intelligent shipping, open more than five pilot routes, create more than ten replicable intelligent shipping typical scenarios, and operate more than one hundred intelligent ships; by 2030, China will fully master core key technologies, form a new model of coordinated development of technology, industry, and governance, and the development of intelligent shipping will reach an international advanced level.
Focusing on the above goals, this person in charge said that the action plan systematically deploys 11 key tasks from four dimensions: technological equipment breakthroughs, application pilot empowerment, infrastructure enhancement, and regulatory governance enhancement, striving to build an intelligent shipping development system covering the innovation chain, industrial chain, and value chain, and promote China's intelligent shipping to move towards a new stage of system integration and large-scale application.
This person in charge stated that the issuance of the action plan not only provides a systematic solution to the bottleneck problems restricting the development of intelligent shipping in China but also injects strong momentum and lays a solid foundation for the basic construction of a strong transportation country by 2035, helping China's shipping to achieve a leap from "running alongside" to "leading" in the global wave of intelligence.
