China’s first ship-repair carbon-footprint declaration has been issued in Zhoushan.
Recently, Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and the Zhejiang Branch of China Classification Society held a cooperation agreement signing ceremony in Zhoushan. The two parties officially signed a cooperation agreement and a 211K bulk carrier construction classification ship inspection service agreement, and issued the "Harvest Sea" ship repair carbon footprint compliance statement on site. This signing marks a new stage in the cooperation between the two parties in the fields of intelligent shipbuilding and green low-carbon, achieving a key breakthrough in the green management of the entire ship lifecycle.
Li Ye, General Manager of the Zhejiang Branch of China Classification Society, Deputy General Manager Qiu Xuefeng, Executive Director and Party Secretary of Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Li Mingxin, General Manager and Deputy Party Secretary Ma Chuan, Assistant General Manager Ruan Junjie, and other representatives from both sides attended the ceremony and reached a series of important consensuses on promoting the green low-carbon transformation and intelligent manufacturing upgrade of the shipbuilding industry.
According to the signing content, the two parties will focus on deep cooperation in core areas such as intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation, green low-carbon technology application, and innovation in inspection models. They will clarify key tasks such as intelligent manufacturing capability assessment, intelligent welding digital collaboration, and digital ship delivery from 2026 to 2028, implement 14 annual cooperation items, and strive to create a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing cooperation in the shipbuilding industry.
It is understood that the "Harvest Sea" ship repair carbon footprint compliance statement issued this time is the first ship repair carbon footprint compliance statement in the national ship repair industry. This statement originated from the first national "Ship Repair Carbon Footprint Inspection Cooperation Agreement" signed by both parties during the 22nd China International Maritime Exhibition on December 3, 2025. According to the agreement, the two parties will use Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry as a practice base, select repair ships under COSCO Shipping Group, and carry out the first national ship repair carbon footprint certification pilot work, building a complete implementation path of "standard formulation—practice verification—industry promotion," laying a solid foundation for the future formation of widely recognized carbon footprint management norms in the industry.
In the future, both parties will continue to uphold the principles of resource sharing and win-win cooperation, deepen technical collaboration and innovation, accelerate the pace of digital and green transformation, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the shipbuilding industry.
