While it's often thought that PP, being lighter, is harder, this is a misconception. HDPE's high crystallinity and tightly packed molecular chains make it significantly harder and more structurally robust, especially in extreme temperatures. Conversely, PP's loose molecular structure and lower crystallinity result in reduced hardness and compressive strength despite its lightweight nature. Temperature variations further highlight their differences: PP struggles with brittleness at low temperatures and softening at high temperatures, whereas HDPE maintains better durability and structural integrity.
