PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride, a versatile synthetic plastic polymer that is the third most widely produced plastic after polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC is known for its durability, resistance to moisture, chemicals, and corrosive elements, making it a popular choice for a wide range of applications including construction materials like pipes and window frames, medical devices, and packaging. It can come in two basic forms: rigid (RPVC) used in construction and piping, and flexible, achieved by adding plasticizers, used in cables and clothing. Despite its widespread use, PVC has environmental concerns due to its chlorine content and the toxic chemicals released during its production and disposal.
Polishing titanium can be a challenging endeavor due to its hardness. However. with the proper equipment and procedure. one can achieve great results. The necessary tools include sandpaper ranging from coarse to fine grit. abrasive. soft cloth. and a power drill with a grinding wheel optional. To begin. remove any significant surface defects with the thickest sandpaper. It is important to note that reverse graining is more effective than reverse texturing when polishing titanium. Next. use increasingly finer sandpaper in the direction of the grain until the surface is smooth. Then. clean the titanium thoroughly with a soft cloth and check for any remaining scratches or blemishes before moving on to polishing. For this step. apply a small amount of polish onto a soft cloth or buffer pad if using a power drill. When using a drill buffer. make small circular motions and apply light pressure; while polishing by hand. rub along the grain of the titanium. Continue polishing until the compound has fully penetrated the metal surface. Use a clean cloth to wipe off any excess compound and repeat this process with more polish until your desired level of shine is achieved. Keep in mind that titanium heats up quickly during polishing. so have some water nearby to prevent overheating.
Replacing a shower head pipe, also known as a shower arm, is a straightforward task that can be accomplished with a few tools and steps. First, ensure the water supply to the shower is turned off to prevent any accidental water flow. Use an adjustable wrench to carefully unscrew the old shower arm from the wall fitting. It's advisable to wrap the jaws of the wrench with tape to prevent scratching the finish. Once removed, clean the threads inside the wall fitting to ensure a good seal for the new pipe. Apply Teflon tape or thread sealant around the threads of the new shower arm to prevent leaks. Carefully screw the new shower arm into the wall fitting by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten it with the wrench, again taking care not to damage the finish. Finally, attach the showerhead to the new arm, and turn the water supply back on to test for any leaks. This simple DIY task can refresh the look of your shower and ensure a leak-free experience.
