Ghulam Qadir, General Manager of Global Cross-Border Strategy of IBI, Invited to Attend the 2026 World Coal Technology Innovation Conference
On June 10, the 2026 World Coal Science and Technology Innovation Conference was grandly held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Ghulam Qadir, General Manager of Global Cross-Border Strategy at IBI, was invited to attend the conference and joined more than 800 industry leaders, experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from 16 major coal-producing countries to discuss technological innovation and pathways toward green development in the coal industry.

During his keynote address, Ghulam Qadir noted that Pakistan possesses more than 185 billion tons of coal reserves in the Thar Desert, making it one of the countries with the greatest potential for coal resource development in the world. He emphasized that technological innovation is the core driving force behind the high-quality development of the coal industry and expressed his expectation that global partners would work together to build a more efficient, cleaner, and sustainable future for coal.
Qadir also highlighted the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to IBI in May 2026, during which both sides reached a number of cooperation intentions in areas including clean coal utilization, coal gasification, and coal-to-chemicals development. He stated that, as a strategic gateway to Pakistan, IBI has established a comprehensive service framework covering fast-track approvals, business facilitation, association support, precise business matchmaking, and investment services, providing end-to-end support for Chinese and international enterprises seeking to enter the Pakistani market.

During the conference, industry associations from ten major coal-producing countries, including China, Australia, India, Germany, and Poland, jointly released the Shanghai Initiative for Advancing Global Coal Science and Technology Innovation.
The initiative outlines action principles for coordinated global coal industry development across five key areas:
- Intelligent mining and smart extraction
- Clean and efficient coal utilization
- Ecological protection of mining regions
- Cross-border collaborative innovation
- Professional talent cultivation
The initiative aims to foster an open, inclusive, and interconnected global coal industry community with a shared future.
As an international representative, Ghulam Qadir participated in and witnessed the official release of the initiative. He stated that he would actively promote the implementation of its principles through relevant cooperation projects in Pakistan and within IBI's international business framework.
At present, IBI is accelerating the development of its third growth curve—cross-border industrial expansion. In the coal sector, the company leverages its strategic strengths in platforms, technology, and data, focusing on:
- Smart mining solutions
- Digital cross-border coal supply chain platforms
- Collaborative services for the coal chemical industry value chain
Moving forward, IBI will continue to leverage its role as an industrial internet platform, deepen practical cooperation with Pakistan and other Belt and Road partner countries, and promote the digitalization, intelligence, and clean transformation of the coal industry, working together with global partners to build a new ecosystem for an efficient, clean, and sustainable coal industry.
